The Gift of Faith-Righteousness

Daily Grace Devotional
Date: 10th February

Texts: Romans 5:17; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:22; Ephesians 4:24

Introduction :
Beloved, many believers live as spiritual beggars while sitting on a throne of grace.
They pray as though God is reluctant.

They worship as though they are barely tolerated.
They serve as though they must constantly “prove” themselves.
Not because God made it so—
but because they have not fully understood the gift of righteousness.

Today, the Spirit is calling you to shift your mindset:
From earning… to receiving.
From striving… to resting.
From self-effort… to Christ-confidence.

Understanding the Gift
Romans 5:17 declares:
“They which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”
Notice the language of heaven:
Not “achieve.”
Not “deserve.”
Not “qualify.”
But receive.
Righteousness is not a wage.
It is not a certificate of good behavior.

It is not heaven’s response to human discipline.
It is a divine donation.
A heavenly endowment.
A gift wrapped in grace and delivered through Christ.
You did not work for it.
You cannot improve it.
You will never outgrow it.
It was finished before you ever began.

The Great Exchange
2 Corinthians 5:21 reveals the mystery:
“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

At Calvary, a supernatural transaction occurred.
Jesus took:
Your guilt
Your failure
Your shame
Your condemnation
And in exchange, He gave you:

His righteousness
His holiness
His acceptance
His standing before God
This was not a symbolic act.

It was a legal, spiritual, eternal exchange.
He became what you were,
so you could become what He is.
You are not “trying to be righteous.”
You are righteous—because you are in Him.

Righteousness by Faith Alone

Romans 3:22 says:
“The righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.”
Righteousness flows through one channel: faith.
Not tears.
Not penance.
Not perfection.
Not religious routines.
Faith.

Faith in what Jesus has already accomplished.
When you believed, heaven declared you justified.
When you trusted Christ, God credited you as righteous.
When you received Him, eternity rewrote your identity.

You were not patched up.
You were recreated.
A New Creation Reality
Ephesians 4:24 says:
“Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

At salvation, God did not renovate your old nature.
He replaced it.
Your spirit was reborn.
Your identity was redefined.

Your status was upgraded.
You were created in righteousness.
Not growing into it.
Not working toward it.
Created in it.
1 John 4:17 confirms:
“As He is, so are we in this world.”
Not “as He was.”
Not “as He will be.”
As He is—now.
Seated.
Accepted.
Righteous.
Victorious.

Living from Acceptance, Not for Acceptance
Many believers live backwards.
They try to obey in order to be accepted.
They try to serve in order to be loved.
They try to be holy in order to be approved.
But the Gospel reverses the order.
You obey because you are accepted.

You serve because you are loved.
You pursue holiness because you are approved.
Righteousness is the foundation—not the reward.

You don’t fight for victory.
You fight from victory.
You don’t work toward favor.
You walk in favor.
Reflection
Ask yourself today:
Am I relating with God based on Christ’s work or my own effort?

Do I see myself as forgiven or merely tolerated?
Do I approach God boldly or fearfully?
Your answers reveal your revelation.

Declaration :
Today, declare aloud:
I am the righteousness of God in Christ.
I am accepted in the Beloved.
I am justified by faith.
I am complete in Him.
I do not strive for what I already have.
I receive what Jesus has given.
I reign in life by grace.

Prayer :
Father, I thank You for the gift of righteousness.
I repent of trusting in my performance.
I receive again the fullness of Your grace.
Help me to live from my identity in Christ.
Let my confidence be in His finished work.
Let my life reflect His glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Closing Charge :
Beloved, never forget:
You are not righteous because you are strong.
You are righteous because He is faithful.
You are not accepted because you are perfect.
You are accepted because He is sufficient.
Walk today—not as a struggler,
but as one who has been justified,
sealed,
and crowned with righteousness.
Grace has qualified you.
Faith has positioned you.
Christ has perfected you.
Live accordingly.
