“For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one.”
(Hebrews 2:11 KJV)
Holiness has often been presented as a condition believers must attain in order to be accepted by God. Yet Scripture reveals a deeper and liberating truth: holiness is first a gift before it is a walk. It is who we are in Christ before it becomes how we live among men.
Through the sacrifice of Jesus, believers were sanctified once and for all. Holiness is not something we gradually earn; it is something we were decisively made. The blood of Christ did not place us on probation—it brought us into perfection before God. This is why Scripture boldly refers to believers as holy brethren.
When identity is misunderstood, conduct becomes a burden. Many attempt to live holy lives in order to be accepted, rather than living holy lives because they are accepted. But the Kingdom operates from inside out. Transformation flows from revelation, not regulation.
The exhortation in Hebrews to “follow holiness” speaks to how we relate to people, not how we gain access to God. Our conduct among men must reflect the holiness God has already established within us. Peace, love, and righteous living are expressions of our sanctification—not prerequisites for salvation.
Kingdom proclamation thrives where believers are secure in who they are. Fear-based holiness produces hypocrisy; identity-based holiness produces genuine fruit. When you know you are holy, you live holy—not to qualify, but to reflect.
Holiness is not a ladder to climb.
It is a life to live from.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for sanctifying me through the finished work of Christ. I receive my identity as holy in Him. Teach me to express this holiness in love, peace, and righteousness toward others. Let my life reflect Your Kingdom wherever I go. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
