— The Faith That Pleases God

📖 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” — Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Yesterday, we explored how faith and faithfulness work hand in hand — faith initiates, faithfulness sustains. Today, we take it further by understanding why faith pleases God and why only this kind of faith can produce an unshakable life.

The Bible does not say, “Without holiness it is impossible to please God” — though holiness is vital. It doesn’t even say “Without love” or “Without prayer.” It specifically says, “Without faith, it is impossible to please Him.” That means faith is God’s love language. It’s what tells Him, “Father, I trust You even when I don’t understand You.”

Faith pleases God because it honours His integrity. It treats His Word as absolute truth. Every time you choose to believe God over what your senses report, you declare Him faithful — and that delights His heart.

FACTS vs. FAITH

Faith doesn’t deny facts — it transcends them.
Facts describe a situation; faith declares a revelation.
Facts say, “The doctor’s report is bad.”
Faith says, “By His stripes, I am healed.”
Facts say, “The bank account is empty.”
Faith says, “My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory.”

Faith is not pretending something isn’t real; it’s believing that God’s Word is more real than what’s visible.

Abraham’s body was old, and Sarah’s womb was dead — those were the facts. But faith looked beyond biology to the promise of God. “He considered not the deadness of Sarah’s womb…” (Romans 4:19). Faith didn’t ignore the facts; it simply refused to let the facts be final.

WHY THIS KIND OF FAITH PLEASES GOD

  1. Faith acknowledges God’s nature.
The verse says, “He that cometh to God must believe that He is.”
Faith recognizes that God exists, reigns, and cannot lie. Every act of faith is a declaration: “God is still on the throne.”
  2. Faith reveals trust in God’s character.
Faith pleases God because it proves you believe He’s trustworthy. It’s like a child who jumps into their father’s arms without fear — not because they calculated the risk, but because they trust his love.
  3. Faith aligns us with God’s perspective.
Faith lifts us from the natural to the supernatural, aligning our words and thoughts with His Word. It gives heaven legal permission to manifest on earth through us.
  4. Faith allows God to reward diligence.
The second part of Hebrews 11:6 says He rewards “those who diligently seek Him.”
Faith that pleases God is not a lazy or casual belief — it is persistent pursuit. It doesn’t quit when prayers delay or when doors seem closed. It holds on like the woman with the issue of blood who pressed through the crowd saying, “If I may but touch His garment…”
  5. Faith positions us to receive, not just to ask.
Faith is not wishful thinking; it’s spiritual positioning. God is always giving, but only faith receives. That’s why Jesus often said, “According to your faith, be it unto you.” THE SEEING EYE OF FAITH

Faith sees what the natural eye cannot.
Where others see famine, faith sees provision.
Where others see defeat, faith sees opportunity.
Where others see the end, faith sees resurrection.

This kind of faith pleases God because it reflects His own nature — the God “who calls those things that be not as though they were” (Romans 4:17). Faith is God reproduced in man’s spirit. When we live by faith, we mirror His creative power, His confidence, and His constancy.

REFLECTION

Do I allow facts to define my reality more than God’s Word?

Am I walking by sight or by faith?

Does my faith reflect trust in God’s character, or fear of circumstances?

DECLARATION OF FAITH

“Father, I thank You for the gift of faith.
I believe that You are, and that You reward those who seek You.
I choose to live by faith that sees beyond facts, faith that honours You, and faith that pleases You.
I refuse to be moved by what I see, hear, or feel — only by what You have spoken.
My faith is alive, my faith is growing, and my faith is pleasing to You!”

KEY INSIGHT:

Faith pleases God because it treats His Word as final authority and His promise as already fulfilled. Facts may describe the moment, but faith defines the outcome.
