Pulpit Ethics for Assistant Pastors

SEVEN PULPIT ETHICS THAT WILL HELP ASSISTANT PASTORS AT ALL LEVELS:

  1. STAY WITH THE SUBJECT YOU ARE GIVEN TO TEACH OR PREACH: The holy Spirit can’t change it. You also should not change it. You can use utterance to address your heart desire for the meeting.
  2. STAY WITHIN THE TIME ALLOCATED TO YOU: Most especially if you want to return back there. Some fathers can extend your time, some wants you to operate within that time. To achieve reduced your points.
  3. DON’T PREACH AGAINST YOUR SPIRITUAL FATHER: If you don’t understand this, it means you are a neophyte in pulpit matters. Let me be practical, I am preaching on the altar of a man who wears uniform with his wife on a weekly basis, won’t I be mad to say love is not by wearing uniform every week? That is not love. You can wear uniform and not be united in spirit. You have a point, but you are preaching against your father.
  4. DON’T CORRECT WHAT IS NOT AN ERROR AMONG THE MEMBERS THAT YOU DONT LIKE: Your pastor runs counselling hours weekly as a ministry tradition and pattern. You don’t make statements like, only disobedient member go for counseling. Or counselling is for baby Christian. Counselling is for guidance, nobody outgrows guidance. Or to put prophet offerings in your pastors hand is wrong. Send it to his account. You have a point, but your presentation is completely wrong. Those who put it in his hand, that may be their faith level.
  5. DON’T RAISE SEED UNLESS YOU ARE ASKED TO DO SO BY YOUR FATHER: Don’t always see seed when you see people. Sometimes see the need to ensure they are blessed and leaves happily. For you to be told not to raise seed, it must be an instruction or a ministry pattern.
  6. DON’T OPERATE ANY GIFT YOU ARE SPECIFICALLY TOLD TO AVOID: The spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. If you are told not to call people out and give public prophecy, please avoid it. Most especially, of you are not in charge of that altar. On your own altar, you can function as you are led. But not on the altar of another person.
  7. BY ALL MEANS TRY AND BE A BLESSING TO THE PEOPLE WITHOUT SOUNDING ARROGANT: you can be a blessing to the congregation, without sounding better than your father, your host or other pastor. Scriptures declare, let not arrogance proceed out of your mouth. Speak no proudly.
This is called impact without pride. Everyone can see that God is the one speaking through you. You don’t preach self. You preach the gospel.

The Lord gives you understanding.

Be blessed.
