PROPHET SUDDENLY, THE WINLOS, & THE FALSE PROPHET CONTROVERSY – MY REVIEW & TAKE (1)

PROPHET SUDDENLY, THE WINLOS, & THE FALSE PROPHET CONTROVERSY – MY REVIEW & TAKE (1)

I did not watch the first part of the movie, Prophet Suddenly, when it was released. I waited till the second part was out and I completed both two weekends ago.

The Winlos has done an admirable job.

The plot of Part 1 revolves around Mike, a zealous young man who wants to do ministry. He failed in his first attempt due to paucity of funds but decides to try again. Only this time, he chases raising funds through his secular job at the expense of personal, family and congregational fellowship.

On a night of vulnerability occasioned by his wife’s repeat failure to fulfil her conjugal duties, he ends up in bed with Sandra who turns out to be Miokukusheshe, the commander-in-chief of legions of familiar spirits.

This sets the stage for a row of events that lead to his home being infiltrated by darkness, his emergence as a prominent false prophet, the eventual demise of his son as a requirement for more power, the loss of his closest friend and PA as a consequence of his search for a way out and his ultimate ruination.

The question of zeal without order and leadership comes to the fore. Michael is zealous but lacks the help of a leader that can guide him against the pitfalls of haste without caution.

The devil knows zeal when he sees it and arranges landmines on the path of the zealous to ensnare them except they are helped. Mike is at his lowest spiritual point when he meets Sandra and that allows for an easy catch.

Watch out for Part 2 of my thoughts tomorrow.
