Keys for Spiritual Parenting

Ten Wisdom Keys for Spiritual Parenting

  1. The spiritual atmosphere in the home is usually often conditioned on the spiritual atmosphere of the husband. The God of the husband is the God of the family.
  2. The spiritual level of a husband is most often the premise of spirituality in the home. The family is anchored on the man’s relationship with God.
  3. Children often take after the spiritual countenance of their father, more than their mothers. Especially if you are raising boys.
  4. When the husband and wife are far apart in spiritual level it gives their children an option to choose from in terms of spiritual growth. Either to tend towards the level of their father or that of their mother.
  5. Children often model after their fathers more than their mothers. When the father is not the Priest of his home it opens up the idea that it’s okay for the children to imitate his posture.
  6. There is a limited level of spiritual discipline you can impact on the children as a parent if they are not seeing that same posture in you. It will be difficult to instruct your children to read their Bible when they have never seen you do so.
  7. When a husband and his wife are in disagreement in terms of the spiritual practice or activities in the home the children will pick up on it. How long do you have to make excuses for their father not showing up to Bible studies or evening devotions?
  8. A wife can assume the role of a spiritual activator in the home while being patient with her husband to grow in level if he sincerely desires to be better in that department. However in the beginning it wasn’t so, the husband is tasked by God to provide spiritual leadership for his home, but we know not all family dynamics are the samesame, some will struggle due to their upbringing.
  9. Children will grow spiritually mature when the husband and the wife are United under one local assembly, one Pastor, one doctrine, and one faith.
  10. Children who grow up in homes where the parents worship in different faith or local assemblies often grow up to follow their own faith and passion, because the disunity provided an imbalance in the child’s knowledge of the Word and personal encounter with God. The child’s foundation is confused.
