About Restitution

About Restitution?

What is Restitution?

  1. Restitution is the act of restoring or giving back something to its rightful owner or returning something to its original state.
  2. Restitution is a legal concept where a person who has gained an unfair advantage or caused loss to another is required to return or compensate for what they have taken or destroyed.
  3. Restitution can involve making amends or apologizing for past hurts or wrongs in personal relationships.

Overall, restitution aims to address past wrongs, promote justice, and restore balance and fairness.

We first heard of restitution in the new testaments in the book of Luke 19 when Zacchaeus encountered Salvation in the person of Jesus.

Zacchaeus promised to carried out restitutions on anyone he wronged, but It wasn’t Jesus who instructed him to do so, he did it willingly out of joy of Salvation and to appease his conscience before men.

Restitution is nice and a commendable act because, the aim is to address the past wrongs, but in addressing those past wrongs, wisdom should be applied in carrying out some certain restitutions.

But do you know that, as good and commendable restitution is, such topic is not a doctrinal teaching?

No founding fathers of the Gospel which are the apostles taught on restitution.

Apostle Paul who committed so much against the Church, we did not see any place in the Epistles where he did restitutions, we only saw his words when he came to the Corinthians Church…

“Receive us, we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.”
2 Corinthians 7:2

Many have this notion that carrying out restitutions is a way whereby you know a genuine believer, but to start with, there’s nothing like a genuine believer. How do I mean?

Salvation is not work of man, its 💯 work of God, from start to finish. And whatever God does is perfect, absolute and genuine void of fake. Is either you’re a believer (Born of God) or you’re not. Every believer is genuine.

So therefore, using restitutions to know a genuine believer will be a wrong assessment.

Now, what prompted me to write on this?

I have come across many accusing Dr Damina of restitutions saying he must do restitutions on the gain he made when he was preaching the materialistic or what we call prosperity gospel.

They said that the only way he will prove that he is genuine and has repented is when he carry out restitution, and if he will not do it, he is fake and God is not be pleased with him.

They always use restitutions as a tool to criticize and to condemn him.

What is restitution again?

“Restitution can involve making amends or apologizing for past hurts or wrongs in personal relationships”

Videos on how Dr Damina tendered apology to his audience is on internet.

After tendering the apology, he said….. Pls, if you’re not appeased with my apology, come to my office let’s talk.

A man that went this length, what exactly do people want again from him?

Do you know what it takes for a public figure to make a u turn and start being against what gave him or her the fame and vowed never to go back to such again?

It takes a whole lot of courage, persuasions and convictions to come to such level and when you see such a person, offer him respect even if you don’t like his theology.

Like I said earlier, restitution is nice and a commendable act, but using it as a yard stick to measure a genuine believer or a believer who is in the good book of God is ignorance.

Am I now trying to defend Dr Damina? No, not at all.

Dr Damina is a force on his own, a man who has burnt his bridge, what will my defending amount to him? Am only keeping the records straight and also presenting to you the stance of Scriptures concerning Restitution.

I call you Blessed.
