Just before you go to bed tonight..

A brief lesson on focus ..

A Vital part of my ongoing experience in life and in ministry is that art of focus on Gods plan .

Distractions come in different forms .

At times we seek to please many ,trying to explain to many suite their whims .Or do what they want or do .

I recall in my earlier years haven to attend unnecessary meetings thinking them as with godly intentions or innocuous only to find out Much was premeditated, malicious.
I simply burnt my energies,wasted times meant for godly activities attending to nay sayers ,mockers ,shenanigans.

I have since learnt .

I don’t give two flying frogs to such anymore .

I learnt from David and his very simple yet salient lessons in 1Samuel 17..

The background, he wanted to take on Goliath .Who had constituted a menace to everyone including king Saul and david’s siblings.

Here are the lessons ..

1 Samuel 17:28 KJV
[28] And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.

Assumptions,Malice and mockery .

Attempting to disprove this is water of the ducks back ,trying to empty the Atlantic Ocean .

Don’t respond, don’t even engage .

It’s bile .Attention seeking .

David handled it well ..

1 Samuel 17:29 KJV
[29] And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?

Rhetoric, but no arguments .

Then this ..

1 Samuel 17:30 KJV
[30] And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.

Focus on those who will listen .

I learnt this in a hard way ,what usually brings some dissidents or mockers to their senses is Ignominy.Yet you are working on .

They aren’t lost ,they are rebellious .some dissenters for inanity.

Simply ignore and focus .

Like david .

Eliab is obviously attention seeking and grieving over an earlier rejection or worse .

David left him alone .

Focus away from mockery and malice ..

Later before the King ..

1 Samuel 17:32-33 KJV
[32] And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33] And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.

Saul doubted him .

David insisted .

1 Samuel 17:36-37 KJV
[36] Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. [37] David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.

It appeared Saul budged but with some conditions..

1 Samuel 17:38 KJV
[38] And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.

Okay ,add this new methods ,some media presence ,packaging ,platforms ,network etc ..

We often face this .

In order to please some ,we mix ,remix ,try to adopt their methods in order not to look controversial.

If a man teaches a false gospel or perseveres in it ,I disdain his methods ,I don’t want it or his platform or network..

David did Same

1 Samuel 17:39 KJV
[39] And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it . And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them . And David put them off him.

Simply say “ thank you sir “

But am not used to this .

Let me stay with Holy Ghost methods ,bible proven ,power as of Old .
Fasting ,prayer ,doctrine.
Not a well trained media team or grade A venue etc ..

If am under a tree ,and have got his message and Spirit ,the hungry will come and the uninterested have a chance for genuine hunger.

It’s not pride .

It’s focus .

Listen ,I have learnt NEVER to use strategies of reasoning ,permutations, getting a popular speaker or singer etc

It’s the Power of The Spirit.No more

I will bend my knees till it’s done .

I purposely ask our church folks to focus more of this than media pressure .

We pray and trust His Spirit.

As our church song says “ we trust in Jesus and no one else “

God is faithful .

He is my and our focus .Not the crowd or any other .

My lessons from david has helped,is helping me as I grow .

May I never outgrow His arm and seek other arms and lose my focus .
